Happy Sunday everyone!

Hope everyone is enjoying this rainy day!☂☂ I enjoyed meeting with everyone last week for conferences! It is fun to celebrate how far your children have come in the short months they have been here. Thanks for all the support your families give to your children and to our school.

Notes:

*March 31st is the last day to get the early registration discount! As well, after the 31st registration it is open to the public. Our classes are filling quicker this year, so make sure you register early=)

*Next week is Spirit week! A little fun right before we go to Spring Break! Flyers should have been in folders. If you missed it somehow, tomorrow will be mismatch day!

*Next week is also the last week to turn in our canned food! This was our focus for missions month and showing students that they can be missionaries even in their own neighborhood. We will be doing a writing about this next week, and 3 students from our class will be picked to go to the food bank to drop off the food after Spring Break. Let's fill our bucket!

*Talking about donations we also have our auction "cooler" ready to be filled! It is camping themed=)

Next week in reading we will continue to work on substituting sounds. This is an easy activity to do in the car with your kiddos. You can say "what word would I have if I took pig and took away the /p/ sound and added the /r/ sound." a little practice goes along way, and it is helping students hear the difference between sounds. We will also be focusing on the parts of a book and nouns. So as you read stories each night ask who the characters are, what the setting is, and what happened first, second, and last.

In writing, we have started our fiction stories. I am so impressed on how well they are catching on to this! It has been fun watching them create their own stories. This unit goes well with what we are learning in reading, the parts of a story. Helps create connections to what they are doing and why=)

In math, addition and subtraction is still our main focus, though we continue in our other chapters about shapes, and putting numbers together. After Spring break, we will begin our addition and subtraction tests. I know sounds crazy for kinders, but don't worry there are 6 problems in 1 minute and only includes number 5 and under. Children will get to go at their own pace as well, so if they have to do +1 a few times, no worries! I do this to give them more practice and one standard for kindergarten is that they are fluent in addition and subtraction up to 5. These are just small building blocks that will help them later in their schooling=)

Next week in Bible we will be learning about The Good Samaritan. Our focus will be on that we should show compassion to ALL people. This is a good connection to our canned food drive as well. I love when things fit together!

Have a great rest of  your today! See everyone tomorrow!

Happy Monday Parents! Sorry for the late post!!

The big thing on the calendar is conferences next week! These will be co-led with the students, so make sure to bring them with you=) Our school does student led conferences in Spring to help students feel more ownership and responsibility for their own learning. I think it is nice to also hear from your child on how they are liking school and what they are learning. This helps students learn the life long skill of a growth mindset, where they learn that if they try they can learn and do anything. Report cards will be sent home after Spring Break. During the conference if you have questions just for me, that is fine, I will have quiet activities your child can do while we talk. If you forget your time you can message me, or find the conference clip-board out front with all the times.

*Tomorrow, Saturday March 18th @ 5:00 is our snack and paint night! This is our first fundraiser help by our PTL (parent, teacher, league)! The cost is $35 and most all profit will go to our school! The instruction will come from Mrs. Kim Tener, an amazing artist who has done art with our kids for the last few years.

*Thursday March 23rd is a half-day! School will be dismissed at 12:00. On half-days we do not provide after-care. You may contact Brooke at the Daycare to get aftercare if needed.

*Canned food drive! After we return from Spring Break we will be taking in our canned food to the food bank. 3 students from our class will get to go! Students will be chosen based on a piece of writing. We are holding our canned food drive in celebration of missions month, teaching kids we can be missionaries near and far.

*Just a heads up, when we return from Spring Break we will be collecting items for our camping themed auction "cooler"! Nichole Stern is purchasing the cooler, I look forward to building our cooler! And I can't wait to bid on it! All proceeds this year will go towards purchasing technology for our school!

Sorry for the lack of pictures this week=(

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Happy Friday wonderful kindergarten parents! We had another fun filled week! Between all of our learning we learned about teeth and how to brush them, I hope you found your child's tooth brush in their bag. On Tuesday and Wednesday we fit in some extra art time, some of which you will see during conferences. Then on Friday we celebrated our 100th day of school and we were also visited by Franz Bakery! Franz was nice enough to donate a bag of cookies to each student and loafs of bread for each class to share!

Today just flew by and I did not test on the Bible verse. I apologize! I will still test on Monday.

Next week will be a lighter week, with only our Writer's celebration on Friday. Parents are more than welcome to come join us at out celebration! In reading we will be reviewing our unit for our unit test on Friday. In writing we will finish up our writing for a reason unit and pick a piece for our celebration.

In Social Studies we will be focusing on missions! If you have ever gone on a mission I would love to have you come talk about your experience with us! Please let me know!

In math, we are continuing to focus on addition, subtraction, measurement, and geometry. As
a whole we will be focusing on addition and subtraction, primarily in story problems. For example, susie had 3 stickers and got 2 more how many does she have, or susie had 3 stickers and joe gave her more and now has 5. How many did joe give her. These are problems that you can also practice at home. Splash Math is also a great resource for your child to practice! I know my son loves it!

Notes!

-March 18th- Snack and Paint Night with Mrs. Kim Tener!
-March 23rd Early Release at 12:00!
-March 24th- No school/ conferences!

-We are now collecting Box Tops! I was told we have already raised about $40 in the short time we have been doing this! Keep it up!

-Remember to bring book bags back on Monday!
