May 30th

Good Afternoon!

I forgot to mention that today was volunteer appreciation day and we would be doing a taco bar for lunch, so don’t be worried if your child comes home with their whole lunch!

Graduation
Graduation is coming up in a week and a half, on the last day of school! Graduation will start at 9:30. Students will be performing their musical and afterwards walk to receive their diplomas. This is a half day; parents may take their children after the graduation unless they are staying for aftercare. Please invite grandparents or anyone else you think would enjoy coming! We will be doing cookies and drinks after the graduation.
Next Monday or Tuesday after school I will be at school putting together the props for our musical. When I find the exact time I will email everyone if people want to come help. I think it will only take an hour or so if you are able to come.
Lastly, on graduation day we will be reciting Psalm 23, which the students have practicing for months. This week and next week in Bible we are working on Psalm 23 only, so you won’t see any bible verse slips being sent home.

Books:
-If you haven’t done so already please return book bags to me.
-Last week notices for library books were sent home, please return these books as soon as possible. If you are not able to find them the cost of the books were on your slip.

Last Meeting...

During the last week of school I will be sending home the original report cards for parents to keep (You do not have to sign and return). Like always I am open to meeting with any parent who would like to.

I hope everyone enjoys their weekend!

May 26th

I hope everyone enjoyed their Memorial Weekend. My family had a great time camping, even through the Washington rain=)

The students had fun at the zoo even through the continuous rain! I hope none of the students caught any colds! Next year we will know to prepare for anything. Here are the pictures I was able to take. I need to find a way so others can upload pictures...

Graduation day and Help
On graduation day the students will be part of an Oceans Program. Their parts were sent home last week. They were put in the "Bring to school" pouch. We are practicing at school, but if you can practice at home as well that will be a great help. Thank you! Also, I will be putting a few costumes together for the program, an octopus, some star fish, a shark, and water. If any one would like to help email me, maybe a few of us can get together after school and work on it together=)

Notes:
·        I will start collecting book bags this week.

All library books are due this week. Mrs. Johnson will send out book notices next week.

permission slips for our field day were sent home last week.

May 16th

Good afternoon parents,

Oh my, we only have 3.5 weeks left! I cannot believe that we are almost done! The next 3 weeks will go by pretty fast too. We have our zoo field trip next Friday. It is helpful if you bring the slip and money before Friday because the day of the field trip is pretty busy. The week after that is Memorial Day, and we will have Monday off. Whew!

Art for the week:

Notes:

·       Auction is tomorrow, Saturday the 17th! You can still buy tickets at the door if you were not able to pick them up.

The kids did a lot of partner work this week, here are a few pictures=)

Mother's Day Tea Party

I promised to post the pictures as soon as I received them, so here they are!

** Also, I wanted to add a note about the math test that will be sent home Wednesday. It might look a little funny because we did it as a whole class first, but I seen they were having troubles so I did it individually afterwards with them. So the score might not reflect what is shown in the test. Most students did better when I asked them individually.

Thanks!

May 12th

Good Afternoon,
It was so nice having all of our Mother’s here for Mothers day on Friday! I was holding off on the blog so I could post the pictures Miss Jones took, but I think it might be another day before I get them, so I promise to post them as soon as I have them!

Focus for the week:

I was not able to put Bible verses in their folders today, but I promise to tomorrow=)

Math-
This week we are finishing up our 3D shapes unit, and we will be completely done with our math workbooks! We will begin a review of the whole year. This means you will not see as many math sheets coming home after Wednesday.

Notes:
·         The Auction is this saturday! If you would like to drop something off small or big a wonderful volunteer from Umpqua will be helping to put baskets together this week.

·         Field trip is coming up on the 23rd to the zoo. I believe we have enough chaperones, but if you would like to join us more the merrier=)
  • It will be hot this week, if you would like your child to wear sunscreen you can bring SPRAY on sunscreen and we will apply it during morning recess. As well, students can bring water bottles.

Pictures for fun!
The students are becoming such great readers I let them read to the class!

I love seeing students choosing to read during aftercare! Warms a teachers heart=)

And this one is just darn cute=)

May 2nd

Happy Friday! We had a wonderfully busy week=) We have been getting ready for our Mother's Day Tea Party, practicing for our Graduation concert, finishing our Frog Unit, and all of our other fun learning.

Kindercamp-
Today we had the pleasure of having pre-school students come into our class to see what a day in Kindergarten looks like. Each student had a buddy for the day. Our kindergartners read to the pre-preschoolers (I was so proud of them!), we made a craft together based on an Eric Carle book, did math stations, and did a writing together. Here are some pictures of our day.

Notes:
1.    Mother’s Day Tea Party is Friday!!!It will start at 10:00. It will probably last about 1.5 hours. We will have tea, cake, perform a little play, and give our Mothers their gifts. IF YOU ARE COMING PLEASE EMAIL ME, THANK YOU!
2.  Permission slips for the zoo were sent home, please check folders=)
3.   Our auction is in 2 weeks! Our class has been working hard on taking the pictures for our class donation (It is harder than you think to get students positioned to take pictures!). If you can donate money for this project please let me know. The cost will be from printing the pictures, buying a nice picture frame, and buying magnets to sell separately. Thank you!

4.  If you would like your child to wear sunscreen when we go outside on hot days you can bring a spray lotion for them to leave in their cubbies. We can apply it during morning recess and in aftercare.

I hope everyone enjoys their weekend!
