Our Week in a snapshot- Last week was fun and busy! We worked in our garden, and a few little plants are starting to sprout! We all worked very hard on finishing up our class book about our favorite animals. I can't wait for parents to see, it turned out very cute! We also celebrated Earth week and talked about ways we can help take care of our earth. Friday was our unit test day, and they all rocked it!

Next week:

Reading- We will begin talking about cause and effect in stories. This actually goes very well with out character traits too, because every cause has an effect! We will also be learning plural and singular and how to add a s to the end of words when there is more than 1!

Math- We are continuing to work on our fact fluency, which will be very important as they move into first grade. Two groups are working on review of the year and one math group is working on shapes and measurement. If your child is not bringing home math papers please know they are doing math but most likely working on our review book, which stays at school.

Writing- We are finishing up our Fiction unit and will be having our Writer's celebration  on Friday! (Side note I will be having a substitute teacher Friday so I can spend the day with my son for his birthday=))

Bible- Jesus and the Children.
Character Trait- We can love Jesus and others./

I hope everyone enjoys the rest of their day!

*Again sorry about no pictures I have been having trouble uploading them lately=(

4/14/17

Happy Friday everyone! We had another busy week, as you will see in pictures below. We started our garden. The kids had so much fun cleaning the garden out and planting the seeds. We also began our animal research project. We will use this project to help us write our class book. And of course we learned about the true meaning of Easter. Each day this week we opened a few Easter eggs that held part of the Easter story. We finished up our week with a painting.

Next week will continue to be busy as we finish up our animal reports and get ready to turn in our final draft to be published! Please remember to fill out the sheet saying if you would like a class book. If you do not want one, please check no and return it. It is due Friday!!!!!

Next week in reading we will be reviewing what we have learned over the last month. Friday will be our test.

In math we have started our addition and subtraction tests. The students are doing great! As we go in to the end of the year, we get to do what I call fun math, measurement, shapes, and position. As we wrap our math curriculum we will review everything we have learned and begin to look at first grade concepts. I really cannot believe we are starting to wrap up our year!!!

- In science we are celebrating earth week. We will learn about why recycling is important, and how we can reduce and reuse items.

- Our Bible story this week is the Ten Lepers. In this story only one man comes back to tell Jesus thank you. So our character building trait this week will be being thankful in our everyday lives, and we will be practicing what that looks like!

-Lastly in writing, we are continuing to write fiction stories. We are focusing on learning about characters, setting, and creating a clear beginning, middle, and end. This may sound like alot, however, their stories go something like this "Hello kitty went to the park. She played on the swings and slide. She went home." Some students do more and some are just working on this.

Note

-Our auction "cooler" is out front of the class ready to be filled=)

- April 16th- Easter service and Easter egg hun.

- May 9th- Mother's day lunch. (11:15)

-May 13th- Auction

-May 22nd- Zoo field trip

-May 29th- no school

-June 6th- Father's field day

-June 9th- Last day of school/ half day/ kinder graduation and program.

Pictures-Please find more pictures in next post!

4/5/2016

Hello wonderful kinder parents! I hope everyone is enjoying their Spring Break! I can't believe that once we get back we only have 9 weeks left of school! We have so much to get done before then! We will be working on our published book this month, as well as start our school garden!

Speaking of school garden, if you have any extra gloves we would appreciate being able to borrow some. The kids will be doing everything for the garden, from pulling out last years sunflowers, planting the seeds, watering them, and pulling the weed! We voted on what we should plant and the students decided to have one vegetable, one flower, and one fruit. I am excited to get started=)

For our published books, please let me know if you would like to come in and help! We will work on it all the way through April. Students will need help with researching and eventually writing up their piece of the book. Thank you!

Thank you to everyone who donated to our food drive! our bins are full and ready to be sent to the food bank! Congratulations to Alayaah, Aubriee, and Abigail for having their writing piece chosen to go to the food bank to deliver the food!

So far for our Auction "cooler", we have our cooler and some s'mores sticks. We have about 4-5 weeks left=) Also, as you are going to all of your favorite places we would love if you asked for a donation. Only with our families and community can our auction be successful! This is our auction money will go to our remodeled building for our 4th and 5th graders (I accidentally said technology last time=))

Well I look forward to these last few months at school! Thanks for the great year so far!
