12/3/16

Happy Sunday Parents and families! I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend.

Last week, it really started to feel like Christmas as our church put up all the trees and lights, the kids were so excited! In class we had fun learning about Christmas in America and Germany. Next Tuesday, we are putting our shoes out to see if St. Nicholas will fill them with anything;) We also had our writers celebration. Look for your child's writing to come home next week with a letter attached, and a rubric saying how they did during writing time. There is a number at the top with their average, between 3-4 is where they should be.Here are some events coming up.

Reading-

In reading we are continuing to work on blending sounds, and we will work on ending sounds. For our comprehension, we are focusing on making connections between texts, and learning more about characters. In grammar we are talking about adjectives. The word adjectives are just beginning to be introduced, we mainly talk about describing words.

Next Friday we will be taking our unit tests.

Writing-

Last week we finished up our All About Me Unit, and on Friday we had a celebration for all of our hard work!

Next week we will begin our How-to writing. Students will be writing about things they know how to do.

Social Studies

Each year, our Kindergarten class learns about Christmas around the World. It's a fun time to explore different countries and talk about our own traditions.

Bible-

In Bible of course we will be talking about the birth of Jesus. A fun way we do that is each day the kids get to see a new picture. Each picture represents a story leading up to Jesus's birth. I love being in a christian school were we get to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas.

Have a great weekend!
Mrs. Lee
